Got a little mountain in you?
Setting up camp at 11,700’ in ADVNTR’s ultralight coroplast & paracord sandals was a great way to test their durability, comfort, and traction.
Early October is a great time to backpack in Colorado if you pack appropriately. The temperature swings within a day might be 50º, so it’s a puzzle for sure. Our hike up was 80º or more, and we set up our site before heading up another 1,000’ to Abyss Lake (which we had all to ourselves!), and back down to camp for the night, which dipped to about 30º.
We want to make a few adjustments to the sandal, but a first go in the wild, after a few pattern changes to the paracord configuration went really well. No wear on the paracord and the coroplast held up wonderfully.
No toe loop/separator means you can wear them with or without socks, depending on the temperature.
First sandal tested past the mailbox.
Coroplast is great because it’s double-layered with built in walls. We’re messing around with the interior walls going in both directions to test cracking. We might add a toggle to keep the adjustment tighter, we also want to keep it as light as possible.
Just for fun, a shot of Abyss Lake under the Sawtooth. We had the whole lake to ourselves.
